The National Institute for Animal Agriculture (NIAA) has scheduled its annual conference for April 11-14, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas. Titled “Consumers’ Stake in Today’s Food Production: Meeting Growing Demands with Integrity,” the event will include presentations on food supply and food safety issues. Shook, Hardy & Bacon Agribusiness & Food Safety Co-Chair Mark Anstoetter will speak during the conference about “Legal Challenges and Ramifications of Food Production Systems and Food Safety.” Shook, Hardy & Bacon is a conference co-sponsor.
Shook, Hardy & Bacon Agribusiness & Food Safety Co-Chair Madeleine McDonough will discuss “Pre-Litigation Risk Management Strategies” at the GMA Consumer Complaints Conference slated for April 7-9, 2010, in Washington, D.C. The conference is designed specifically for food industry staff working in the areas of consumer affairs, call center management, consumer complaints, product liability claims, and quality assurance.
GMA will conduct a conference in Austin, Texas, February 23-25, 2010, titled “2010 Food Claims & Litigation Conference: Emerging Issues in Food-Related Litigation.” Among those scheduled to speak are Shook, Hardy & Bacon Partners Amy Crouch, Greg Fowler, Paul La Scala, and Frank Rothrock. Crouch and Fowler will discuss “Trends in Global Food Litigation: Class Actions and Collective Redress,” while La Scala and Rothrock will focus on “Mass Tort 911: The Company’s Been Sued! Shook Agribusiness and Food Safety Practice Co-Chair Madeleine McDonough will serve on a panel during the American Conference Institute’s “3rd National Forum on FoodBorne Illness Litigation, Advanced Strategies for Assessing, Managing & Defending Food Contamination Claims,” to be held October 26-27, 2009, in Chicago. McDonough joins a faculty that includes federal regulators and in-house counsel for industry trade associations and food companies. She will discuss issues relating to “Global Food Safety: Factoring in New Threats Associated with Foreign Food Product Imports.” Among the specific topics she will address are risks and threats to the food supply and managing those risks.
